The figure, imbued with great serenity and contemplation, shows the saint in habit and cloak, in a praying posture, originally holding a crucifix. The work exhibits all the characteristic features of 17th-century Spanish Baroque sculpture: dynamic drapery, an introspective gaze, and delicate modeling of the facial features. The sculpture was acquired in a precarious state of conservation (documented with photographs) and has undergone a respectful professional restoration, in which the wood was consolidated, the original polychromy was recovered, and the losses were reversibly reintegrated, restoring the saint's original expressiveness.
