Direct from France, a dramatic and highly carved set of two antique French dining chairs with exceptional Renaissance style and opulent carvings.

The solid oak chairs feature ornate crowns with dimensionally carved fruit-and-flowers draping over carved French shells and open arched backs.

Round finials perch above the turned, grooved and carved posts that frame the upholstered back panels.
The luxurious high-quality damask-style textile in blues, beiges and ivory is fully outlined in brass nailhead trim and repeated on both the chair seats and chair backs.

The shaped lower front rails include center carved French shells and additional carved detail, with the carving continuing down into the upper trumpet legs, which are grooved and reeded below and retain their original casters at the front.

Quality throughout, well built by skilled craftsmen of the period, circa 1880.
