19th Century N.W. Persian Bakshaiesh Carpet ( 10'10" x 13' - 330 x 396 ) The red-rust field supports a slightly abbreviated all-over pattern of chenar trees (oriental plane trees), weeping willows and potted garden shrubs. No cypresses, however. The age-mellowed natural tonality extends to the pale lime border with rust and cream-accented octagons. Light blue accents. The wide plain outer border, here in abrashed rust, is frequent on the best of these NW Persian carpets. Good condition.
This rustic red color allover tribal geometric weeping willow design antique Persian Bakshaish rug is a compelling example of classic Northwest Persian rugs, where expressive tribal geometry and rich tonal character come together in a visually engaging composition. Woven by hand in the Bakshaish tradition, this antique Persian rug combines an earthy red ground with rhythmic patterning and symbolic motifs, making it a dynamic foundation for a wide range of interior styles.
The field features an allover tribal geometric design built around stylized weeping willow elements — motifs that suggest organic movement and decorative depth while maintaining the bold graphic language typical of tribal weaving. These forms are arranged in purposeful repetition, creating a balanced visual rhythm that feels both structured and spirited across the surface.
Surrounding the central field are complementary border bands that frame the composition with contrast and cohesion, enhancing the rug’s decorative narrative without detracting from its rustic warmth. Hand-knotted in high-quality wool, this antique Bakshaish carpet offers tactile texture, enduring resilience, and a beautifully matured surface that reflects its history and craftsmanship.
Perfect for living rooms, formal seating areas, dining spaces, or open-plan interiors, this antique area rug brings historic character, tribal design energy, and warm color resonance to your home. Its rich red palette and allover patterning make it a standout choice for interiors that benefit from textural depth and timeless decorative appeal.
