This exceptional circa 1900 carpet is drawn in the Heriz style with running leopards and zebras around a cloud-band filled, pendanted medallion, on a red ground. The cartouches and octofoils of the orangy.-rust main border are classically Persian in ultimate origin. This Oushak carpet was woven as competition to Persian room size pieces.
