The red exterior is printed with bold, graphic typography and illustrations in true vintage packaging style, with the original Japanese text still visible throughout.

Dimensions: height 10 cm, width 15 cm, depth 17 cm.

On the side, for example, it reads “headache and tooth/nerve pain” (頭と歯・神経痛) alongside the product name in katakana: シグレン (Shiguren).

Lovely details include the printed “design registration” notice and the small illustrated panels, giving the whole piece an almost poster-like look.

The box shows authentic signs of use: wear along the edges, fading, and a few areas where the top layer has worn away over time—exactly what you’d hope for in a genuinely used object. The original pull was replaced at some point with a simple metal wire handle, but the drawer still slides smoothly and the box feels sturdy.

Today, it works perfectly as a decorative yet practical object: a warm, nostalgic storage piece for stationery, keys, sewing supplies, cables, herbs, tea, or small collectibles— a subtle Japanese accent with a story. See less
