Mid to Late 20th Cent style. These lamps are crafted into many different varieties ( i.e.: dimensions, distinctive and sharp detailed engraving, weight, size of oil bowl, etc. ) of the peacock on a pedestal. They are heavy and durable, yet charming and beautiful. Which make them a popular heirloom or decorative centerpiece. Lighting a Deepam will do more than just add a warm beautiful glow to your home. They are a symbol of purity, prosperity and good fortune.
If you do not wish to use this as an oil lamp, it will also be a fabulous decorative touch to any bookshelf, mantel, or on your favorite display table so all can see it shine as the light reflects off of it.
To use as an oil lamp, you can use oil or Ghee (such as sesame or olive or clarified butter). Avoid commercial or synthetic oils. Twist one (1) end of a cotton wick and place it in the bowl the Peacock is holding, making sure you are leaving half (1/2) an inch of the wick resting out from the pointed spout. Add your oil, not overflowing. Saturate your wick including the piece sticking out of the spout. Your lamp will now be ready to light. Never leave unattended. Keep away from anything flammable.
