Up for sale is this gorgeous Robert Bushong cityscape in earth tones. A silkscreen on linen, it measures 40" x 57" and is in immaculate condition, as pictured, with rod pockets at the top and bottom and a wooden rod in the bottom pocket. We do have such a weakness for this artist....!
About the artist:
Bobby Bushong, a student at the Museum School in Boston, Massachusetts and the Worcester Art Museum School with Walter Gropius, moved to Nantucket with his sister Polly, also an artist, in 1955 following a successful career in commercial art in New York City. Bobby and Polly helped craft the social circuit of artists that dominated the 1960's on Nantucket Island. He was famous for his outrageous sense of humor, while Polly was known for attending parties dressed as a mysterious character Cora Pratt, in outlandish wigs and buck teeth.
Bobby was the principal artist for Tom Tru Company, Lambertville, NJ, during the 1950s and 60s, from whence this wall hanging presumably comes. Bushong's works on linen, canvas and paper are highly collectible. This one shows why!
