Each sconce features a solid metal frame … Read more Elegant and streamlined pair of vintage Italian wall sconces in polished, nickel-plated brass. Each sconce features a solid metal frame with two shaped brackets at the ends, supporting seven crystal blades connected by slender curved tubes. The two brackets are joined by a rear plate that holds the single light socket; the electrical wiring also passes through this plate, allowing the sconces to be securely mounted on the wall. The seven crystal blades are finely contoured, alternating three blue elements with four clear ones, all extending outward like petals. The light filters beautifully through the crystals, producing refined and evenly diffused illumination. The sconces were manufactured between 1970 and 1973 by Veca (both original labels are still present) based on a design by Fontana Arte. Veca is a respected Italian company known for transforming crystal and plastic into functional design pieces. Fontana Arte, founded in Milan in 1932 by Luigi Fontana and Gio Ponti, is celebrated for its exceptional glass craftsmanship and its pioneering role in lighting design, standing as one of the most influential names in Italian design. With their clean lines, essential structure, and harmonious arrangement of the crystal elements, these sconces are elegant, modern accent pieces suitable for a wide range of interiors.
