The Hickory Chair Company produced this set of six Queen Anne dining room chairs in October 1966, as evidenced by the paper label attached to the bottom of each chair. The name of the maker appears in the upper right-hand corner of the label in small type (refer to picture 17). As vintage chairs, there are a number of flaws that I want to point out. The two armchairs have scratches and areas of missing wood on the arms (refer to pictures 7 and 8). The legs of some of the chairs have scuff marks and small traces of white paint on them. Some of the side chairs have very little damage, possibly because they were rarely used. All six of these chairs have been reupholstered in a deep green fabric that resembles suede. It was placed over the original fabric, which was red, but this is only noticeable when you look at the underside of each chair. The current fabric is in remarkably good condition with no stains on it and has a wonderful feel to it.
I photographed these chairs outside on a sunny January afternoon, creating a warm glow to the mahogany. They will invariably look different in an interior setting under artificial light. Please take this into consideration when matching colors. I have photographed all six chairs in pairs showing all four sides of each pair.
