A polychrome hard-paste porcelain sculpture, entirely hand-decorated, signed under the base with a crowned "N" in blue underglaze. The sculpture, executed in the Art Nouveau style, dates to the late 19th century, around 1890, and the patina covering the object confirms this date. The sculpture is not Italian, as one might think, and has nothing to do with Capodimonte. It is German, and the mark is the one used in the late 19th century by the famous Ernest Bohne & Sohne factory, as shown in the last photo. This sculpture is particularly beautiful, in our opinion, not only for its high artistic quality but also for the beauty of the large fan-shaped branch behind the girl, with flowers and leaves, typical of 18th-century English Derby sculptures. The meticulous brush-tipped decorations on the skirt are also beautiful.
Useful information for appraising the item:
from our online research, we've found several porcelain objects, also made by Ernest Bohne & Sohne, offered on other art and antiques websites, sometimes at very high prices, ranging from €150-€300 for smaller pieces, up to over €1,500 for a single sculpture. This gives an idea of the value of porcelain from this manufacturer.
Information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
Ernest Bohne & Sohne is a Thuringian manufacturer, internationally known for the quality and beauty of its porcelain creations. It was later acquired by Rudolstadt, another renowned German manufacturer. This piece has an attribution mark,
