A wonderful sculpture depicting a little girl sitting with a large book and a small dog, made of glazed ceramic … Read more A wonderful sculpture depicting a little girl sitting with a large book and a small dog, made of glazed ceramic (ceramic with added kaolin, also known as soft porcelain), enameled, vitrified, and entirely hand-decorated. It is signed by the artist on the side with an incised signature "arturo pannunzio." the inscription "ranzini" appears on the bottom. The sculpture dates back to the early decades of the 20th century, 1900. It was created by arturo pannunzio for the milanese manufacturer "ranzini." a beautiful sculpture, the little girl has a very sweet face, with chubby cheeks, reddish highlights, and curly hair. The dog is in a charming pose, frightened by the large insect depicted in the book. The very soft colors, in perfect art nouveau style, and the rich glaze make the sculpture even more delicate and soft in its lines. Finally, the dimensions are good; the object is larger than it appears in the photos.

information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
born in campobasso in 1891, arturo pannunzio settled in milan in 1920, where he worked as a modeler for the "ransini" ceramics factory. In the 1930s, he moved to "v.b.c.m." where, for many years, he produced small cast sculptures intended for home decoration. These pieces, with a fresh and spontaneous feel, were continued after his death in milan in 1953. This piece has an attribution mark,
