Compact architectural form. An iconic optical glass vase designed by Jan Sylwester Drost for HSG Ząbkowice, Poland, during the 1970s. Executed in clear pressed glass, the vase features a pronounced geometric relief that creates a striking optical effect, enhancing depth and light refraction. The transparent material emphasizes the sculptural quality of the form, allowing the interplay of light and shadow to define its rhythmic structure.
This design reflects Drost’s pioneering approach to industrial glassmaking, where mass production techniques were elevated through bold, architectural forms and optical experimentation. A classic example of Polish mid-century modern glass, highly regarded by collectors of European modernist design. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
