Description:

The box is constructed upon an elevated, tiered pedestal base, a feature that elevates it from a purely utilitarian object to a piece intended for display. The lid exhibits a sophisticated, layered pyramidal construction consisting of nine meticulously notched and stacked tiers.

The façade is executed in a beautifully minimal style. A simple, half-round carved motif on the front face may have once served as a escutcheon for a since-missing lock, hinting at the object's original function as a secure container for personal valuables. The interior remains fitted with its original crimson velvet lining.

Condition & Provenance:

The piece is in good, stable condition with a surface patina and wear consistent with its age and use. The rear strip of the lid has become detached from the primary lid structure but remains affixed to the original hinges. As a result, the lid requires supportive handling when lifted. See less
