Cloisonné originated in the Yuan Dynasty of China.Exquisite cloisonné enamelware must possess vibrant and lustrous colors, a thick and sturdy body, neat and even wirework, and a brilliant, lustrous gilding. Cloisonné uses a wide variety of glazes. Due to the intricate and costly process, and the social unrest in China after 1912, the art of cloisonné declined for a time.
