According to … Read more A wonderful piece of folk art created by the Old Hickory Company in Martinsville, Indiana back in 1937. According to a note accompanying the chair, it was created as a gift to a local man who made it his mission to rescue stray dogs and cats and give them food. He became known as "The Dog Man". Throne-style hickory chair with carved dogs on the top of the posts and a dog plaque in the seat with "Dog" carved along with the initials "MK". One chair arm end is a carved dog while the other is a snake. There's also a face in the seatback, a sword handle protruding from the top of the chair and a meat chopper under the seat front.
