Sculpture in solid hard-paste porcelain, the base is not hollow but solid, like the oldest porcelains. Depicting a child with a fife, it is entirely hand-decorated with a brush tip, glazed, and finished in pure gold. It is made and signed on the back with the ancient mark of the German Plaue factory, and has a catalog number under the base. The sculpture dates to the 19th century, around 1830-1850, and the beautiful patina confirms this. The artistic quality of the object is extremely high, with a compact and extremely hard porcelain paste, rich in kaolin, as only the oldest porcelains were made, when this material was not yet exhausted. Note the beauty of the floral decorations on the child's jacket, all hand-crafted, brushstroke by brushstroke, with small, meticulous decorations of the highest technical quality. All the white circles are filled with flowers, resembling miniature still lifes.
