A 19th-century silver tape measure holder by Hermanus Heuring
A small silver tape measure holder, operated by a small swing handle. The holder is slightly oblong, measuring 3.5 cm and 1.5 cm diagonally. The measuring inscriptions have faded and are no longer present, but the original tape measure is still present and can be easily rolled up with the handle. This item dates between 1830 and 1852, so early 19th century, and the maker's mark is possibly that of Hermanus Heuring, Amsterdam (mark used between 1830 and 1852). The "Sword" Dutch silver hallmark, see pictures, was used between 1814 and 1906. Therefore, the date is between 1830 and 1852, while this mark was used by Hermanus Heuring. This item shows some traces of use. 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm and weight is 4 grams
