We … Read more The seat and back rest are hand carved from a single piece of aged teak wood with lovely patina. We added minimalist legs and a tiny wood butterfly inlaid in to the back. It’s all in the details. Full dimensions; 17" deep x 16" wide at the back x 13" wide at the front x 12" seat height x back rest 10" high. This chair or side table was hand made in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility.
