A pair of French, 20th century wall-mounted plaster planters of stylized Medusa figures, not with an abundance of snakes emanating from her head but a thick mane of acanthus leaves. Spiraling volutes project from her crown as natural complement to the Neoclassical foliage cast in high-relief, framing the exposed face that is smooth and frozen in a penetrating gaze. A shallow cavity in the tops allow these wall decorations to double as planters for live or faux greenery. Note that one of the visages is patinated with rusty oxidation, please view the detailed images to see the current condition. Sold as a pair.
