Antique Japanese ”Choba Tansu” merchant chest made of cedar and accented with hand made iron hardware featuring seven drawers and a pair of small sliding doors. A few of the drawers are not quite flush with the case and protrude about 1/8" however all drawers and doors function well but unfortunately there are no keys. The buffed satin wax finish complements the aged cedar patina of this exceptional piece. This style of tansu was used by merchants in their shops, decorated to impress their customers and to give a favorable impression of the establishment.
Whether used as a statement piece or focal point in your home, this exceptional tansu is a testament to the artistry and utility of Japanese design.
