Circa Late 19th … Read more This Really is a Very Nice Example of a Small Size Antique American Country Primitive Bread Basket. Circa Late 19th Century. It has 2 Finely Made & Carved Steam Bent Wood Carry Handles Incorporated in to the Design as well as a Bolstered Top Rim It is Completely Hand Woven - Hand Made out of Heavy Gauge Indigenous Brown Ash Wood and was Designed to be Durable. It would have to have been Made by an Experienced Weaver as The Workmanship Would Indicate. Based on my Experience I Believe that it Most Likely Comes From the Down East Coastal Maine or New England Region. It has the Added Feature of a Attached Woven Ring Footed Base. It is in Very Nice Strong & Sound Condition - Perfectly Usable. It has Developed a Wonderful Color with Naturally Aged Patina Over the Years that Cannot be Duplicated. It is in Very Nice Imperfections Noted - It has a Few Small Sections of Weave Loss. These Types of Antique American Baskets in Very Good Original Condition are Becoming Very Hard to Find These Days. It Would Display Wonderfully in a Country Kitchen Table Setting.
