A stunning, large glazed stoneware sculpture depicting a pair of roosters perched on a block of black wood, created by the renowned ceramist Guido Cacciapuoti, originally from Naples but now working in Milan. The sculpture is signed in full, with a handwritten signature inscribed directly on the ceramic body by the artist "Guido Cacciapuoti." It dates to the early decades of the 20th century, around 1900-1930.
Information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
Guido Cacciapuoti, born in Naples in 1892, comes from an ancient family of majolica makers, from whom he learned the secrets of ceramic art. In 1927, he founded "Grès e ceramiche d'arte" in Milan with his brother. A highly talented modeler, he stood out for his beautiful animal sculptures. The factory immediately enjoyed great success and became especially famous for its Deco ladies and realistic animal sculptures. Guido Cacciapuoti died in 1953, considered one of the most important Italian ceramists of the first half of the 20th century. In the last photo we have added additional information about the artist and Cacciapuoti's manufacturing process, for those who would like to learn more. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
