The carved frame reflects the restrained classicism of the Georgian period, drawing on earlier French influences while maintaining a distinctly English sense of balance and architectural clarity.
Handcrafted in England by an unknown workshop, the piece is constructed in carved wood with a gilt finish. The frame was professionally regilt at a later date to preserve the crispness of the carving and enhance legibility of the detailing while retaining its historical character.
