Sculpture depicting a pair of reclining pigs, made of stoneware, a clay slightly softened with kaolin, then glazed and vitrified. Entirely hand-decorated, it was created by the renowned ceramist Guido Cacciapuoti, originally from Naples but now working in Milan. The sculpture is signed with a pen directly on the ceramic mixture by the artist, and labeled "Made in Italy." The sculpture dates back to the early decades of the 20th century, around 1920-1930. Pigs are a subject rarely depicted by any sculptor, including Cacciapuoti, and are highly sought after by collectors. This sculpture is of exceptionally high quality and uncommonly beautiful. Notice the pigs' gentle pose and the delicateness of their features. Furthermore, the sculpture is flawless, without the slightest chip.
