The stem is made from a clear glass cord fluted into a teardrop shape, with small bands of pleated red glass paste applied entirely by hand, and a delicate hot-applied flower. The goblet is also entirely handcrafted with a striped effect, with oblique, spiraling stripes that extend from the base to the rim. Made by the artistic glassworks of Murano in the early 1900s, in true classical style. This particular goblet model, called "Trionfo," was a court glass, already in use in Venice as far back as the 14th century, of which ours is a later revival. See less
