Beautiful hat-shaped vase, with a cylindrical body and a mouth shaped like the brim of a tuba (hence the name "hat"), featuring two scalloped edges on both the front and back, one facing upwards and one facing downwards. Made of blown glass, the main body is made of lilac opaline glass, obtained by adding cobalt oxides and colloidal gold or copper, inserted into an outer layer of clear glass using the sommerso technique. A large bow is created with a heat-applied relief border. Signed with a diamond-point pen by the Murano manufacturer "La Murrina" immediately below the bow, and with a hand-applied glass relief murrina, with the letter "M" inside, the manufacturer's initials. The vase dates to the second half of the 20th century.
Information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
"La Murrina" was founded in the 1960s in Murano by a small glassworks run by a group of master glassmakers. The initial activity consisted of producing a few prestigious blown glass objects designed by the artists who owned the glassworks. In 1974, ownership of the small furnace was transferred to a Milanese family, already producing glass and metal lighting fixtures. The company began to be managed in a more entrepreneurial manner, the "La Murrina" trademark was registered worldwide, and the collections expanded and enriched. The year 2000 marked the beginning of collaborations with leading designers and architects, who enriched the production with contemporary design collections, always crafted using ancient glassblowing techniques. Among them, for example, is the renowned Murano artist Licio Zanetti. This piece has an attribution mark,
