It features a velvety base and is crafted in true Futurist style. The sculpture is signed with a metal plaque on the base, inscribed "Domenico Matteucci Faenza." There is also a cartouche under the base inscribed "Ceramiche Artistico Matteucci Faenza," created by Domenico Matteucci around the mid-20th century. The girl's Oriental face is beautiful, with narrow, elongated almond-shaped eyes, plump cheeks, and a flat, extremely expressive face. Her hair, gathered at the nape of her neck, is also beautiful, almost unreal, lending a geometric feel to the sculpture, recalling elements of Futurism.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
Domenico Matteucci was born in Faenza in 1914. A sculptor and ceramist, he studied at the Faenza Art School and in the second half of the 1930s collaborated as a modeler with Mario Morelli's ceramic studio in Faenza. He later opened his own kiln, where he invited Mario Morelli and Pietro Melandri to collaborate. He died in his hometown in 1991. This piece has an attribution mark,
