Hand-painted … Read more This exquisite set of four vintage Japanese Kutani tea cups and saucers is a masterclass in mid-century "eggshell" porcelain. Hand-painted with meticulous detail, the set features two distinct, atmospheric landscapes: the iconic, snow-capped Mount Fuji rising over a serene bay, and a traditional golden pagoda nestled among lush, pine-covered hills. The true delight of this set, however, is the hidden lithophane geisha at the bottom of each cup; when held to the light, a delicate, photorealistic image of a geisha appears through the translucent porcelain. Each piece is finished with a fine gold rim and bears the authentic red Kutani maker's mark on the underside. Accompanied by four custom-fitted dark wood display stands, this set is as much a gallery-worthy display of Japanese craftsmanship as it is a functional treasure for the discerning collector.
