This is a set of 2 original French fashion croquis (drawing) that date to the late 1940's. Mid-Century fashion drawings have become increasingly more difficult to find with the passage of time. These are rare and unusual pen and ink drawings done on calque (semi-transparent paper). They are hand watercolored on the reverse side. This process which lends a unique mat textural quality to the drawing was borrowed from the more typical technique of reverse painting which was traditionally done on glass. See the rear dress renderings so you can see this application.(Pleaes note that I had to carefully scan these images to assure the integrity of the transparent paper.) This set of 2 makes great wall decor in a foyer, bathroom, dressing area, or bedroom. The fashion designs are hand numbered and retain the original couturier stamp. The image is affixed at the top to thick acid free stock paper, 8.25 x 11.75 inches. Image is 7 x 10.25 inches. See less
