Chinese Yixing Zisha lotus flower frogs teapot, a finely formed, olive green, teapot in the shape of a lotus flower with a frog finial atop a lotus seed pod lid which has ten individually carved lotus seeds in a light umber hue. The pot is supported by three frogs, forming the feet. The handle is a lotus flower stem and the spout is a lotus flower rhizome. Two maker's marks are carved, one under the lid and the other at the bottom of the pot. Circa mid century or earlier.
Yixing Zisha teapots are known for their ability to enhance the flavor and aroma of tea, particularly when brewing Puer, Oolong, or green tea.
Maintenance: It's recommended to use a specific Yixing Zisha teapot for a particular type of tea to avoid cross-contamination of flavors.
