A refined louis xv–style bombé commode crafted in france in the mid-20th century, showcasing traditional french cabinetmaking and the luxurious material contrasts associated with the louis xv revival. The case is veneered in finely selected satinwood and amaranth, chosen for their warm tonal depth and subtle grain, and is richly finished with gilt bronze ormolu mounts—rocaille-form handles, escutcheons, and corner chutes—adding crisp sculptural definition to the curved façade.
the commode is built with two drawers sans traverse (without a central stretcher), emphasizing the continuous flowing silhouette typical of the louis xv tradition. In 2022, the marble top was replaced with a newly selected slab designed to harmonize with the veneers and gilded bronze, restoring a clean, elegant presentation while preserving the piece’s decorative intent. Produced by a french workshop in france, this commode reflects the enduring influence of 18th-century parisian models on 20th-century decorative arts and remains ideal for refined residential or collector interiors.
