"Yellow Rose and Frogs" by the renowned Japanese ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige, 1797-1858. It depicts two frogs near a stream or pond with yellow mountain roses (Kerria japonica) hanging above them.
t is an ōtanzaku format print, part of a series of bird-and-flower prints (kachō-e) originally created around the mid-1830s. This is a mid 20th century print, showing publisher stamp T. Adashi.
The text in the image is a poem that can be translated as: "Under the spring rain is the globeflower, and a frog croaks without a raincoat"
Excellent condition. Lightly attached with acid tape to matte at left rim of white, not image.
