The panoramic architectural scene captures the original Trocadéro Palace and its formal gardens, a landmark closely associated with Paris’s transformation during the Belle Époque. First constructed for the Exposition Universelle of 1878 and later forming a central backdrop to the 1900 World’s Fair landscape, the Trocadéro became one of the city’s most recognizable symbols of modernity, spectacle, and civic pride at the turn of the century.

The box rests on four rounded feet and is richly embossed with scrolling decoration throughout the gilt brass body. It opens to reveal a tufted silk interior in a deep rose tone, originally intended for rings, small jewelry, or cherished keepsakes. The brass has developed a warm, authentic patina consistent with age, enhancing its sculptural presence and sense of history.
