Artist Biography
Carlo Brancaccio (1861–1920) was a prominent Italian Impressionist painter known for his vibrant cityscapes and Neapolitan views. Born on March 6, 1861, in Naples, Italy. He initially studied mathematics but abandoned the field at age 22 to pursue painting. He was a student and close friend of Eduardo Dalbono, a respected figure in the Neapolitan art scene who influenced his mastery of chromatic nuance and en plein air (open-air) painting. Brancaccio's work is characterized by a rapid brushstroke and a palette of radiant hues typical of the Neapolitan school. He specialized in: Cityscapes (Vedute): Frequent subjects included the lively streets of Naples and Paris.Atmospheric Scenes: He was particularly adept at capturing weather effects, such as rain or luminous coastal light.Landscapes: His portfolio includes sea- and landscapes of Capri, Amalfi, and the French Riviera.
