Thick patches of oil paint have been applied with brushes and spatulas, and a somewhat regular grid has been carved into the resulting impasto surface. This fracturing of the visual plane produces something of a semi-cubist effect—which emphasizes fragmentation rather than abstraction. The biomorphic form of the painter’s palette straddles the framework—maybe in winsome defiance. Signed indistinctly at the lower right. Presented in a slim, gold-tone frame. See less
