A simple still life - Lemon, Pitcher, and Steel Bowl - Dated 1984.

Presented in a very significant frame, with linen liner and inner gold eaf trim.

Frame approx. 18 3/4" x 16 3/4". Painting within is approx. 9 1/2" x 7 1/2".

All signs are that this this was a significant part of a a very good 1980s collection!

In keeping with Aesop's fable, Fox and Crow's Motto is "Beware of False Flattery!" So, with each listing we offer a true confession about the item...

Sometimes the finest paintings are the simplest ones. The subtle color ways here, the elegant detailing, the perfect scale...this is a lovely piece. It never occurred to us how hard it would be to paint stainless steel, adjacent to a lemon - but here you go.

And again, the subtle color play...the yellow tones of the lemon, the silver of there steel, and the gray puddy of the pitcher all against the pure white of the linen cloth. This is terrific work! See less
