Hand crafted antique 19th century rosewood with inlaid shell writing/traveling desk from England. Made during the Victorian era. Has a unique 3 tiered design with a quilted inner lid that features embossed gold on silk. This lid pulls out and reveals an accordion file. The top tier features a tray made of a composite material with flecks of silver and black and has silk covered lids, some with carved shell buttons. The bottom tiers pull out to make a flat writing surface covered in gold gilt burgundy velvet and leather. There is a wooden slot for pens and ink and one panel of the writing surface lifts and there is storage underneath. This is in antique condition with wear commensurate with age, lock and key works, no major damage, some light surface cracks across the top of the lid. When closed the box measures 7" high, 12" wide, and 9" deep. See less
