This is an excellent original painting. For those not familiar with lubi brugnoni the biography from her exhibition pamphlet from the brubaker gallery in sarasota florida in 1982 reads:
lubi brugnoni is a resident of sarasota florida having moved here from new york city where she had pursued a very successful career in free lance art and illustration. Lubi was formerly represented in sarasota by buyways gallery for nine years. A graduate of pratt institute and teacher at the parsons school of design, lubi also studied at the art students league and with kuneyoshi, barse miller, and diana altman. One of her most interesting projects in new york was stage design for ziegfield. Her awards are many, including prizes from hofrstra college, hecksher museum, c.W. Post college, knickerbocker artists, manhasset art assn. And sarasota art assn.
Lubi paints in the contemporary style of "hard edge" but gives it a fresh treatment. Her sophisticated paintings are figurative, and her intuitive sense of design eliminates unnecessary detail. From and color combine to make her work very distinctive in today's art world.
This is an outstanding original painting. First off, it is a large work with the canvas measuring 40 x 40 inches with a gold frame that only adds an inch. Signed lower right as well signed and dated on the back in marker. An outstanding image of what looks like 3 geisha servers in a japanese restaurant. Excellent geometric work and use of hard edge and fine lines. The use of colors is excellent as well. A large and impressive painting. I have not been able to find too many things on the internet though she exhibited and was represented in florida galleries for the entire 1970s and 1980s. Most of her work must have stayed in the collections that initially acquired them. This is definitely a show piece. In perfect as painted condition with no issues at all. This painting will make a statement in whatever location. A fine work. Painting will come with the pamphlet from her show in 1982. Frame measures 41 x 41 inches.
