This is a beautiful assembled set of 6 French country style pale blue-green painted ladder back rush seat dining chairs by high-end American furniture maker Habersham Plantation. Four of the chairs are dated 1984 with striped rush seats, and the paint is very slightly more blue in tint. Two of the chairs are newer (probably 1990s) with plain rush seats, and the paint is very slightly more green in tint. However, as a grouping, they make a great nearly matched set of 6 dining chairs.
The dining chairs feature solid wood construction with gorgeous floral carvings throughout, shaped ladder backs, woven rush seats, and cabriole legs ending in reverse scroll feet and supported by a beautifully carved central stretcher. The chairs are painted in a pale blue-green, which looks to be custom and original. All chairs are signed Habersham on the underside.
The mid-20th century chairs are in very good vintage condition. The chairs are extremely well made with very solid joints. The rush seats are intact and tight, though there are stains and scuffs on some of the seats. The painted finish is intentionally rustic but has some authentic distressing as well, in the form of paint loss, scratches, and other signs of use. Some of the seats have cracks in the wood that do not affect their ability to support weight. Please see photos for more details about the condition of the chairs.
Each chair measures 18” wide, 20” deep, and 42.75” tall with a 18” seat height.
