This United Confederate Veteran's Hat … Read more A rare piece from the Palmetto State dating back to the 1890s in South Carolina. This United Confederate Veteran's Hat Cockade was presented to a veteran at a reunion of CSA soldiers to honor the end of the US Civil War. It features a hand-cut parchment Confederate Flag with stars and stripes highlighted in metallic gold inked paint, mounted on a stamped, faded blue painted metal burst that acts as the backing. At the center is a gilt brass insignia of the South Carolina state palmetto tree. The reverse side is lined with a patch of wool felt, which serves as the base for attaching the cockade to a hat or clothing with a pin. See less
