Incredibly unique and rare are this very large pair of hand carved wooden poster printing blocks from the early 20th … Read more Incredibly unique and rare are this very large pair of hand carved wooden poster printing blocks from the early 20th century. They are stained from years of ink being applied prior to printing the posters. The subject matter is a car crash and is believed to be a printmaking block to advertise "Fearless Greggs All American Exposition", based on that being carved on the backside of one of the blocks..

"Fearless Greggs" was the name of a popular motorcycle and car stunt act that performed at various American expositions and fairs in the early 20th century,

The front of one block has the main design of the carved cars projecting off the surface while the other has the design in relief. It would have been used to layer a different color ink. On the back side, one block is blank while the other has a portion of the "Fearless Greggs" name and show advertisement.

In fantastic shape for their age with only one block having a small crack at the top corner, which is not very noticeable from the front, and the expected scuffs and dings that are commiserate with age and use.

These would make an incredible artwork display on a wall and would certainly be one-of-a-kind.
