Sculpture, figurine in fine porcelain, blanc de china, depicting a lady in 18th-century dress with a full crinoline skirt, in a sensual pose with a fan. Made from a model by the renowned Italian sculptor Francesco Antonio Bustelli (1723-1763), who worked in Germany throughout his life for the equally famous Nymphenburg manufactory. Marked only with an incised shield, without the green shield, and numbered under the base.
Information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
In the last photos, we have included historical notes on the manufacturer and its marks, taken from one of our French volumes. Ours is number 5, and the notes (second photo) say "en creux (incised) 1810-1862," with only the incised shield without the painted green one. Anton Bustelli was one of the greatest ceramists of the 18th century, famous above all for his 16 Commedia dell'Arte figures and for all his ladies, dandies, and Chinese figures, all in the Rococo style. In the last photo, immediately after the object, we've included the same sculpture published in Bustelli's catalog—specifically, the color version. However, he always made the same sculpture both in color and in "blanc de china," like ours. Note that the height of our sculpture corresponds exactly to that of the sculpture published in the catalog.
