Item :
A vase or bottle, entirely hand-blown and crafted from opaque white, acid-treated glass, decorated with ruby red glass paste, signed under the base "Kosta Boda B. Vallien" and bearing a catalog number. The item dates back to between 1930 and 1960. Beware of imitations; similar, unsigned bottles with much simpler workmanship are available at low prices. Ours features a heavy acid treatment, creating a beautiful effect, and the glass paste decoration is quite thick, well-relief from the surface of the bottle. The bottle is also a good size compared to similarly shaped bottles usually produced by the manufacturer.
Useful information for appraising the item:
from our online searches, we found numerous crystal and glass pieces from the same Swedish factory, still in operation today, offered on eBay and other online art and antiques sites at very high prices. Prices range from as low as €150-200 for bottles similar in shape and size to ours, but much simpler in decoration and artistic workmanship, to asking prices of over €3,000 for the largest and most important vases. This information provides an idea of the value and artistic significance of Kosta Boda glass.
