Item :
A magnificent trumpet-shaped vase in clear, finely blown crystal, finished with a luster and iridescent hue, with a purple glass paste base. The vase is iridescent in the transparent portion, which tends toward yellow, and the trumpet shape is a design by Louis Confort Tiffany, a renowned American artist, to whose circle or circle the vase can be attributed, dating to around 1930. The iridescence on the bowl is particularly beautiful, contrasting sharply with the dark purple base.
Useful information for appraising this item:
from our online searches, we found a vase identical to ours, also unsigned, offered for a starting bid of €160 ($190) at the Palais Dorotheum in Vienna, auctioned on December 12, 2012, lot No. 7002, titled "Trompetenvase," attributed to a Murano manufacturer and dated 1930, making it a rather old vase. Keep in mind that the price could easily rise during the auction, and the 25-30% buyer's premium must be added to the price. Furthermore, this was 12 years ago, so considering inflation, the price would certainly be much higher today. In our opinion, the vase was mistakenly attributed to the Murano glassworks, as its workmanship is much more similar to Tiffany vases than to Murano vases. As evidence of this, we found two other trumpet vases similar in shape but with much more intricate artistic workmanship, made by Tiffany, which fetched considerable prices at auction. One vase fetched €2,700 at Kunstauktionshaus Schloss Ahlden GmbH in Ahlden, Germany, in the "Antiquities & Modern Art" auction on November 30, 2013, lot no. 292, titled "Tiffany-Ziervase." Another sold for €1,451 (including buyer's fee of €1,814) at Treadway in Cincinnati, OH, USA, in the "Art & Design Auction" on November 24, 2019, lot no. 66, titled "Leaf and Vine Floriform." All of this serves to give a general idea of the importance of this type of vase.
