A stunning, large, hand-crafted, majolica and vitrified ceramic basket-shaped centerpiece, featuring a shell-shaped vase and two large fish on either … Read more A stunning, large, hand-crafted, majolica and vitrified ceramic basket-shaped centerpiece, featuring a shell-shaped vase and two large fish on either side whose tails join to form the handle of the large basket, finished with an iridescent metallic sheen. Signed under the base with a mark incised into the ceramic body: "LABOR ceramiche artistica," manufactured in Sesto Fiorentino, dating to the mid-20th century. The fish are beautifully shaped, their tails elegantly intertwined to form the basket's handle. The bright orange color, very popular in 1930s Art Deco art, is a striking contrast with the pale colors of the rest of the vase. The pure gold finishes are delightful. The sheen covering the shell-shaped vase is particularly exquisite, making it slightly iridescent when touched by the light. The size is good, and the ceramic is thick. Finally, the patina covering the object is excellent.
