Item :
a magnificent ceramic bottle vase, entirely handcrafted on a wheel, glazed with dark red florentine gold metallic enamels and finished with a lustre. It is marked "bottega gatti faenza" under the base and features a cat's face design, a trademark belonging to the "gatti & c." factory, founded in 1928 by riccardo gatti and luigi montabilini, and dating back to the second half of the 20th century.
information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
born in 1886, riccardo gatti, one of the most important faenza ceramists of the 20th century, founded the "gatti & c." factory in faenza in 1928. The kiln produced, among other works, futurist-style ceramics designed by giacomo balla. In 1930, the factory specialized in the study of ceramics decorated with metallic lustres, such as this vase. In 1932, he participated in the bologna exposition, where he received a cross of merit and a gold medal for artistic ceramics. The factory remained active until his death in 1972, when his nephew took over the management and changed the name to "bottega gatti." this piece has an attribution mark,
