The upper image depicts English galleons under sail, while the lower image shows a Dutch vessel identified as a “Fusta olandese” or related light craft, illustrating contrasting naval and maritime traditions of the period. Coronelli’s engravings focus on hull form, rigging, and sail configuration, offering both descriptive accuracy and visual drama. The English galleons are shown as large, ocean-going warships, reflecting England’s growing naval power in the late 17th century.
