about a. W. Faber and faber-castell
a. W. Faber was one of the key companies in the history of writing instruments. Founded in 1761 in stein, bavaria, and consolidated under anton wilhelm faber in the 19th century, the company distinguished itself through industrial standardization, consistent quality, and a strong international presence. From the mid-19th century, it opened branches in major european capitals, including paris, which explains the presence of cases and markings specifically for that market.
the brand specialized in high-precision pencils, mechanical pencils, and technical tools, combining mechanical innovation with luxury finishes such as gold plating, aimed at a bourgeois and professional clientele. By the end of the 19th century, a. W. Faber had become synonymous with reliability and prestige, laying the foundation for what would later become faber-castell. This piece has an attribution mark,
