The secret encounter
sensual and mischievous art deco aquatint, in its refined original oval briar frame, with antique mat in pastel tones.
the work depicts a young woman welcoming her lover, whose hand can be glimpsed behind the door, while with a delicate gesture she invites her dog to silence.
drypoint and aquatint engraving, printed with colored inks (colored on the plate).
engraver: charles naillod, born in paris on june 6, 1876, died in 1941. A painter and printmaker, he primarily depicted nude scenes and portraits in the art deco style. It participated in the salon des indépendants from 1906 and the salon des artistes francais until 1920.
signed in pencil by the artist and numbered 30/39.
period: circa 1920s.
in a beautiful original oval frame, made of briarwood with lighter wood inlays. With an antique, hand-decorated tiffany-colored mat.
dimensions: 42 x 52 cm.
