This exceptional vintage Moroccan Boujad rug is a powerful example of mid-20th-century Berber textile art, handwoven in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco using traditional techniques passed down through generations.
The composition features a bold geometric diamond lattice, animated by a warm, earthy palette of ochre, sand, faded coral red, and deep indigo accents. The naturally softened tones and subtle abrashed variations give the rug a refined, painterly quality that evolves beautifully with light and space.
Boujad rugs are celebrated for their expressive freedom and symbolic motifs, often interpreted as personal narratives woven by the artisan. This piece reflects that heritage with a strong visual rhythm and an authentic, soulful presence—equally at home in a contemporary interior, a curated design space, or a collector’s setting.
The wool pile has aged gracefully, developing a rich patina while retaining excellent structure and softness underfoot. The rug has not been restored, preserving its original character and integrity.
A true statement piece, this rug bridges traditional Moroccan craftsmanship with modern, gallery-level aesthetics, making it highly desirable for collectors, interior designers, and discerning buyers.
